Snowy ridges and ghost trees in the BMSA riding area

Our story

Incorporated as a society in 1993, the Beaver Mountain Snowmobile Association is a non-profit that has, through long-time support, dedication and pride, provided a premier winter recreation area in the jewel of the West Kootenays.

Our routinely groomed trails follow the tenured Archibald Basin forestry access roads, giving backcountry riders of all ages and experience safe access to our natural backyard playground. Family trails lead into a playful meadow basin; advanced riders can climb challenging terrain through the trees, or up through deep powder above. Expect snow bowls, ghost trees, windswept ridges and fresh cool air, among friendly folks.

Our goal is a safe, enjoyable, environmentally responsible and family-friendly backcountry experience for everyone who comes out.

  • Safe snowmobile use
  • Avalanche awareness
  • Environmental stewardship
  • Respect for the backcountry

Take nothing but pictures.

Leave nothing but tracks.

It’s time to ride!

No trail fees are charged at Beaver Mountain. Members and volunteers are the reason the riding area exists, and we want sledders and quadders in Fruitvale and the surrounding area to know what their support makes possible.

Your membership keeps these going

  • The snowmobiling and quadding area itself
  • Fuel for the CAT that grooms our trails
  • Our cabin, built entirely by volunteers (materials aren’t cheap)
  • Trail upkeep and slashing
  • Safety in numbers, and shared information
  • A sense of community
